I want to start doing makeup tutorials to post to my channel & blog. I have a Sony Cyber-shot camera & I purchased a new Mac Book Pro laptop but my videos look blurry on laptop & I don’t have a stand for my camera. Are there any better choices, or should I say any affordable alternatives, in order to get the ball rolling?

You would need to spend at least $ 3500 for a HD camcorder that could make videos of better video quality than a $ 300 MiniDV tape camcorder can.

Consumer level HD camcorders have 3 problems. 1) fuzzy, blurry, out of focus areas around people in consumer level HD camcorder footage. This would really affect your make up videos. 2) Any movement in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder results in screen ghosts and artifacts following the movement left on the video track, appearing every time the video played. 3) 1Hour, 30 Minutes, even 8 Minutes. Those are the set, mandatory, you are done recording times on a few consumer level HD camcorders I have seen and heard about. That is ridiculous, but with A MiniDV tape camcorder, carrying a few tapes in your pockets, change tapes in less than 90 seconds, you have several hours of record time available to you.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $ 250 or the better (more pixels) ZR930 for about $ 300. Neither of these camcorders have the problems listed above and it would take over $ 3500 to get a HD camcorder that could even match the video Quality of them

I want to do some makeup tutorials and talk about clothes and stuff but I would rather not show my face. I know it could be difficult if it’s makeup but I could just show my eyes when I’m putting it all on and stuff. And if I’m talking about clothes and trends, I could just show the outfits, clothes, shoes, etc. What do you guys think? I know it sounds dumb and some of you may say just show your face but I’m not going to, k? So any other tips, advice, etc would be appreciated, thank you:)

Yes. You can just show the middle of your body and not your head. Just do the makeup on somebody else

I’d like to buy a camcorder, i was wondering if i can use them to make makeup tutorials and such for youtube as well. Would they be detailed enough? Can anyone suggest a good brand that’s not too expensive but do the job?

I know many of them use the webcam on the MacLaptop. But some of them do use a camcorder as well. It all depends on what you are more comfortable at using.

If you go to some of the Guru’s pages and look on the side bar they will sometimes list what camera they use. So find a Guru you like and see if they list it then find a camera the same or something similar to it.

I love watching YouTube beauty videos for a little over a year now, but I’ve noticed that some gurus never do makeup tutorials. Or even if they do the looks kind of all look very similar. Or they do some makeup tutorials, but rarely like only 2-3 makeup tutorials. I was wondering how some gurus do a lot of makeup tutorials, while others doesn’t? Is it because they aren’t that good with makeup?
